VW 1.9L TDI Diesel - Clogged Intake Port

If you are experiencing loss of acceleration, sluggishness on hills, low power under loads, these are symptoms of
a clogged intake port on the VW 1.9 litre TDI engine. If you have approximately 170,000 km, and have not had an
intake cleaning, more likely your intake port looks something like the one above. Airflow to the engine must pass
through this port, and as the port becomes clogged, airflow is reduced, the engine looses efficiency, and power
output drops. It is similar to breathing through a small hole; that is how your engine feels. This is a gradual process
often taking years and tens of thousands of kilometres to occur. Most owners will notice the gradual loss of power,
but once cleaning has been carried out, WOW!! What a difference. Port cleaning is not a simple procedure, but it is a
necessary one. To do a complete and professional job, one must remove the entire air intake manifold, related hoses,
electrical and vacuum lines. In severe cases, the entire cylinder head must also be removed. The return in both
power and efficiency makes it well worth the cost, your TDI will feel great afterwards.

The Passat/Audi 2.8L Timing Belt Water Pump Arrangement

This is the timing belt arrangement on a 2.8L V6 VW Passat, Audi A4 or A6 engine. The removal of the entire front-end
of this Passat is required for this job. Shown are: A-Timing belt, B-Tensioner & Damper, C-Water pump, D-Roller and
E-Alternator. A great deal of care is required when replacing the timing belt kit on this engine, it has 30 valves.
Specific Volkswagen Training and Tools are required for this job.
